Figma is the browser-based design tool that beat Sketch, survived the failed Adobe acquisition, and remains the universal default for product design. The multiplayer model is real — engineering and PM can comment, devs can inspect, designers can iterate, all in the same file with no version conflicts. Pricing is per-editor, which adds up on larger teams, and the file format is proprietary in a way that should give you long-term storage anxiety. The 2024 Dev Mode and AI features (Make Designs) haven't materially changed what most teams use it for: ship UI specs that engineers can implement.
